Product Creation and Distribution

At Universal Music Australia, I was responsible for all domestic digital product ingestion and distribution.

On average, approximately 100-120 products were released each week onto digital music stores, specifically digital music albums, singles, compilations, music videos, and ringtones.

The role required operational perfection, with all products being created correctly and delivered to digital business partners with enough time for them to ingest the products into their systems before release date. Creating each product required the use of a significant number of digital systems and software.

The two major challenges of the role were time management and being able to multi-task. On average, each digital album or single product would create the same amount of time to create. However, the process could take as long as six weeks, or as little as two hours, depending on the situation.

The role involved constant interaction with many stakeholders throughout the supply chain, including Universal’s domestic production, international production, digital sales, frontline marketing, strategic marketing, and international marketing departments, along with third party label representatives, external digital music retailers (inc. iTunes and Spotify), and other internal Universal departments.

I oversaw the ingestion and delivery of millions of pieces of content and I was never responsible for missing the release date of a product.

While at MIA, I was responsible for the supply chain management and content ingestion of all digital music products.

This included the creation of a new full-track music library from scratch, featuring more than ten million tracks.

I was responsible for all digital music albums, music tracks, music videos, and ringtones, ensuring that these were delivered and ingested correctly, and appeared on digital music stores correctly.

I also ingested other types of content such as mobile games and wallpapers, and completed other tasks such as mapping and bulk ingestions.

During this time I was never responsible for missing the release date of a product.
